Envirotech Education was the Queensland Winner and Australia finalists of the 57th Australian Premier Export Awards which was co-presented by Austrade and the Australian Chamber of Commerce in December 2019.

This national awards program primarily recognises and honours Australian businesses for their export achievement and contribution to Australia’s economic prosperity through their engagement in international business, achieving sustainable growth through innovation, commitment, and carving out opportunities in a highly competitive global trading environment with their creativity, determination, and leadership. The Awards also measure businesses against their peers based on the strength of their international growth, marketing, and financial strategies.

Envirotech was the Australian finalists and Queensland winner under the Sustainability Category for its unique Environmental Management and Sustainability VET courses.

Main Challenges

Envirotech invested in the development of innovative educational products, and in Environmental Management and Sustainability accreditations, embedding sustainability across multidisciplinary programs and exporting these products to over 60 countries while training locally. The main challenges with focus on our unique courses are:

  • Marine, environmental management & sustainability education requires specialised marketing.
  • Higher education is traditionally the career pathway in environmental management and sustainability, and there are no specific Vocational Education and Training (VET) pathways.
  • Australian federal and state education and training funding does not include these VET subjects.
  • Marine Habitat Conservation and Restoration was not at all included into the Australian VET system.
  • Marine Habitat Conservation and Restoration priority or migration lists exclude the VET occupations.

Solutions

  • Specialised marketing team led by environmental consultants engages in offshore and onshore marketing campaigns and training of our partners and affiliates around the world.
  • Creation of university articulation programs.
  • Applications submitted for government VET educational reform to include marine protection, environmental management & Sustainability into the Queensland Skills Assure program.
  • Direct funding applications to support indigenous communities on the Great Barrier Reef.
  • Marine Habitat Conservation and Restoration priority was designed and developed by Envirotech International Australian and overseas scientists.
